Why OPD now?
Traditional project delivery methodologies and frameworks simply aren't meeting expectations. Project success rates range anywhere from 30% to 60% according to most of the research. In the former manufacturing based economy, organizations turned to systems such as Toyota Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Lean and others to maximize efficiency and ROI. Now, the Project Economy is upon us. Change is accelerating within organizations and projects are leading the way. The simple, linear, open-loop processes used over the past 50 years of modern project management are not robust enough to successfully deliver projects consistently.
What is OPD?
OPD is an approach to project delivery focused on organizational capability and modeled using System Dynamics. Our Organizational Project Delivery approach encompasses the strategies, methodologies, processes, and people used by an organization. It is an organization-wide approach as projects are delivered across the organization with varying degrees of sophistication and expertise. OPD takes into account the interconnectivity of processes such as Human Resources, Financial Results, Strategy, Shareholder Influence, Project Execution, and more. OPD is an approach which specifically accounts for those complexities to utilize feedback to inform the systems and then establish organizational capability to deliver projects in our rapidly changing world.
